I read in the herald today about Wanda Arnold. She is from where I grew up, so I knew most of what was said in the article. I think that it is crazy that things like this still go on, and I really think that this is why many people in rural NS feel the way they do toward First Nations Communities.
Band members have to realize that the money is not theirs, it is the bands. And they are supposed to represent the WHOLE community. People like Wanda are there to ensure that policy is kept and that old family issues within the community does not affect the whole.
I applaud Wanda for standing tough, not giving in and especially not signing the confidentiality that would of made everything that happen there only rumor.
