Ther e is a push on to lower the voting age to 16. I am curious why, personally I think that there are more pressing matters at hand. Also I don't know if this is going to help anything. "many 16-year-olds who are highly intelligent, committed and thoughtful. Given the opportunity, they would take that responsibility very seriously"

But I know many 20 somthings that I think shouldn't vote, a quote that I heard during the last election, "I don't pay attention to politics, I just vote whichever why Steve tells me to". Steve is this one lady's "significant other".

I am unsure how lowering the voting age will help this kind of mentality.

On another front, it seems that the people involved in trying to lower the age limit has other agendas for doing so. It turns out that a lot of young people don't even want the wote, and think it would be wrong to lower the limit.

I think there are two sides to this issue. I happen to know a lot of 16 years that are very interested in politics. However, there are rare. Most of the average children in highschool, when I was there (which is not that far removed), did not care one bit.

I think it woudl be rather foolish to go ahead and lower the age for the sake of the few that do have an interest, that would make an informed decision.
