The former ambassador to Canada, Paul Cellucci, is looking for Canada and the US to go back to the negoiating table on Soft Wood lumber. I am not sure if I think that it is in Canada's best interest at this time. Sure the Southren states need the lumber, but the BC workers that lost their jbos over the dispute have been wronged badly. The US should just pay back the tariffs and let life go on, it isn't a lot of money in the first place, but the principle it the very important thing

Yes, why the fuck do we have NAFTA. We went have NAFTA, committees and when the US doesnt get their own bloody way the go cry and bitch to the WTO and look for their own hand picked answer. They should be paying back the money and opening the borders, this whole debacle could of been avoided with Paul Martin had some backbone and Frank McKenna knew something about DIPLOMACY!!
I really don't think that anyone else on the hill today would of been able to do any better though....
Diplomacy is a state of mind and McKenna doesn't have it....He is a businessman and doesn't have the patience to be a diplomat, although I don't see how he was hurting the matter.
At least you're not plundering third world countries for your wood like Britain is. Apparently we clear an area the size of Luxumberg each year in our quest for wood.

I read something like that on the BBC today. And wood isn't something that can last forever in Canada. Our cutting and replating programs are turing our forests into dead zones. Where the same spruce tree is replanted ad-infinium. The result is much of the eco-system goes stagnant due to there isnt the diversity to support multiple species.
