If there word was as good as gold then they wouldn't be disputing the NAFTA agreement.
Also they can't seem to figure out that this entire softwood issue is more that just $3.5 billion. It is about the USA standing by an agreement that they have made with another country. $3.5 billion is NOT a lot of money in these type of matters.
“We will not negotiate a win,” Martin thundered, “and we will not negotiate unless we have signs that, in fact, NAFTA will be respected.”
Outside the House, International Trade Minister Jim Peterson responded with sarcasm to Rice’s “good as gold” pledge on respecting international agreements.

I couldn't believe how condescending she was to the Canadian government. It proves if the U.S.A cannot get what it wants it will just go by any methods to make sure they get the upper hand. Martin needs to step up and fire back or we will keep getting walked on.
