Here's an article from the leader of the NS Liberals.
How's this for political grandstanding? The guys a schmuck. He appears to love the Liberal party of canada more then the province he strives to govern. I like how he talks nicely about the former Liberal MLA for Guysborough, Ray white. Man, someone find this guy a better communications guru!!!

Ottawa saving province from Tory mediocrity
By FRANCIS MacKENZIE / The Leaders / Liberal Party
WE SHOULD THANK OUR lucky stars for the federal Liberal government. What improvements Nova Scotians have seen recently have come directly from Ottawa. We will have a balanced budget here, not remotely due to any skill on behalf of Mr. Hamm and his cronies, but as a result of the federal government's financial assistance.
The Conservatives keep telling us: "Be happy. Everything is just fine." That's what they did when they claimed to have fixed the pensions of the teachers. We now find out that they hadn't.
We have an obligation to our teachers, but sadly we have a Tory government that miscalculated a $142-million pension fund shortfall, which will now have to be borne by all Nova Scotians. The Hamm government will claim it's just a balance sheet entry, but the cost and the obligation are very real. And it makes us wonder whether they have misled us in other areas.
We have perhaps become too complacent, listening to the lullabies sung by the Conservatives. Enough! It's time we start taking more responsibility for genuinely improving our future.
I visited Canso recently to attend a public meeting on the community's future. People have to cope with the heart-rending choice between going on as a town, in the face of massive financial challenges, or amalgamating with Guysborough County.
What I heard at the meeting reminded me of what makes our province so great. Mayor Ray White and council took the responsible position of clearly presenting the facts, thus enabling the townspeople to make informed decisions.
Clearly, to stay a town would put a considerable extra burden on the ratepayers. But I noticed that increased taxes seemed to run a distant second to pride in the heritage of this special community and the belief that its residents must take responsibility for rebuilding their future. That's true self-reliance.
Canso has contributed significantly to this province. And with over 400 years of history, adversity is not something new to its people. Neither is bouncing back from it. What I took away from that memorable meeting was a true example of the strength of Nova Scotians when they fight for what they believe in.
Are we so lulled by the Conservative government's policy of mediocrity that we are losing the drive to fight for a better future for ourselves and our children?
Liberals see great potential for Nova Scotia to become a "have" province, restored to the greatness and pride that it once had as a leader in Canada.
But Conservatives have fostered the spirit of underachievement. We need fresh energy, new drive, strong ideas and a reaffirmation of our true spirit.
I wish the fine people of Canso the very best in their important decision. You have renewed my belief that we have to have confidence in ourselves. A Liberal government will fight for a Nova Scotia that will achieve the potential we all deserve.
Our province will become a model of success. What is it that makes our province so great? Our people - Nova Scotians!
Wow, Francis is sure trying to line up to the trough even before he has a seat. May be hopes this whoring for the Liberal Party of Canada will earn him a spot in case the Liberals in Nova Scotia get wiped out.

Do you really think he's trying line up a future patronage appointment?
I really think you give this guy waaaaaay too much credit.
I think he just has a REALLY poor grasp of how to get a message across. His editorial is an example of how this guy stands for NOTHING, has NO policies, and just hates the conservatives simply because, well, he's a Liberal.
I mean, he even takes time to praise a former Liberal MLA, for what appears to be just an opportunity to praise him.
Check out Frank R. Pound's blog for more articulated view on the subject.
and just hates the conservatives simply because, well, he's a Liberal.
Isn't this what politics is? It seems that conservative, liberal or NDP, the party line is just to disagree with what the ruling party is doing. If the liberals announced sweeping tax cuts, the conservatives say that they don't go far enough. If the conservatives spend on health care, the NDP say that it wasn't enough money. This inability to agree between parties degrades the entire political process. Likely why so many people are disenfranchised with the process. I certainly am. I'll vote, but beyond that, I don't give the lot much credit - Harper, Martin, or even little Keddy-boy
Hamm (PC) and Dexter (NDP) have been getting along pretty damn good. They also have columns in the Herald, and they both do a good job of gettng their message across about what needs to be done in NS and how they hope to do it. Of course, their views differ, but they both propose positive methods to accomplish what I believe is the same goal.
However, MacKenzie's message was simply "Tories bad, Liberals good."
Read Hamm and Dexter's columns and you'll see a huge difference in the language and message compared to MacKenzie's.
