They are all the same and it is a load of crap. I try to buy as much stuff from smaller independant people as often as I can. I refuse to shop at costco,wal-mart etc they all suck arse.
I really don't think that you can put Wal-Mart and Costco in the same category.
Wal-Mart tries to make money on the expense of its employees, while Costco does not. From that article I believe that Costco may be one of the better Retail chains in NA. I have never heard of a downtown district crying because a Costco is coming to town.
Sure I shop at the farmers market, and most places downtown but I also shop at Costco when the parents are up (I don't have a car). Up until recently I was thinking of letting my membership pass, but now I think I would rather help support the 100 or so employees that are working there than get the shopping that I would normally get done, done at Walmart
I remember reading a similiar article. I was impressed. My exgirlfriend use to work for walmart and they just walked all over their employees, they excepted the world from the employees and paid them garbage for it.
Its nice to see a "discount" place pay a fair wage. Although I think $17/hour is a bit high for unskilled labour. Unless that is for managers or something.

I say, what ever they can get the power to them. $17 is the "average" so you never know what you would get starting at the cash.
I always think that it is better to be overpaid than underpaid, and $17 is defintely not out of line

Generally, I prefer not to support big corporations. For example, Wal-Mart's only mission is to destroy competitors (honest small businesses) while they exploit and oppress labors in developing countries, and this is not exactly where I want to shop. Costco isn't exactly so (though Costco probably share certain characteristics as other corporations). It's a whole sale store, so a lot of businesses actually depend on it. Also Costco is actually offering what other stores don't offer, very low price in exchange for your getting a large amount. Costco offers selective items, so they are not exactly direct competitor to other grocery stores and shops.
