The unions and the school board have finally reached a deal, and students will be back in school starting next week. The vote was a 99% majority with only 7 voting against the new deal. The deal, which was exactly the same as the one voted down on April 16 except for the fact that wage parity would be investigsted by the province, is a huge step forward. The unions have been fighting for wage aprity for years.
However, is this really a step forward? To me it makes sense that some people in HRM make more for the same job. The cost of living is higher here, but this may be changing as the price of gas increases. See the link below for a complete article from the Herald
