Liberals Vote Against Keeping PromisesPosted on Wednesday, February 09 @ 10:27:02 CST by capebretoner
Conservative Press Release: OTTAWA – Today the Liberal government voted against a motion calling on them to honour the commitments they have made to farmers.
The motion, tabled by Official Opposition Agriculture Critic Diane Finley (Haldimand-Norfolk), and debated on February 3rd, also demanded that the CAIS cash deposit requirement be dropped.
“Personally, I find it unconscionable that any government would show their disdain so blatantly. By voting this way the Liberal government has clearly shown what many of us have suspected for a long time: they have no use or respect for Canada’s farming community,” said Finley.
The motion, which was voted down by Agriculture Minister Andy Mitchell, had the unanimous support of the Conservatives, the Bloc Quebecois and the N.D.P., and passed with 158 votes in favour and 114 against.
“The House of Commons has spoken overwhelmingly on these issues. If the Minister of Agriculture does not act on this motion - and soon - he will be ignoring the will of the House. The Minister and his cabinet will be thumbing their noses at Canada’s Parliament, the democratic process, and at farmers across this country,” concluded Finley.

Re: Liberals Vote Against Keeping Promises (Score: 1) by capebretoner on Wednesday, February 09 @ 10:31:10 CST (User Info | Send a Message) http://www.thepartylive.com | | I think that it is wrong for any party to go back on their promises. However, I think that it is unfair that Finley believes that the current government will not follow the wishes of the majority. If they don't then I think that it is means to call a new election, and very quickly, because it will show that the current government is not doing the wishes of the majority. |
