"The Government of Canada to Announce the 2005-06 List of Priority Federal Contaminated Sites"

YELLOWKNIFE, August 2, 2005 - Please note that the Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of the Environment, will announce the allocation of funding under the Federal Contaminated Sites Accelerated Action Plan, which includes the Giant Mine site.

Date: August 2, 2005
Time: 2:00 pm (MDT)
Place: Giant Mine, approximately 5 kilometres north of Yellowknife, Ingraham Trail (Highway 4)

Journalists are invited to visit the site during the restoration. The Honourable Ethel Blondin Andrew, (Minister of State (Northern Development) and MP for Western Arctic), representatives of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and of the N'dilo and Dettah First Nations will also be present.
