Whither the Canadian dream?Posted on Tuesday, February 08 @ 10:43:33 CST by capebretoner
PAUL SCHNEIDEREIT writes: "WHAT'S HAPPENED to Canada?
So asked - although not in so many words - Reid Morden, the Canadian who's executive director of the independent inquiry committee into the UN oil-for-food program in Iraq."
What has happened, is Canadians figure that our "nice guy" attitude will get us through life unscathed. It has worked so far, but I agree with many others this will not last forever. I have seen over and over how the military has been disregarded, and no matter what anyone says, Canada NEEDS a strong military. Our land mass alone is huge, and rich of natural resources. Well, yes the US is there to help, but what if it is them that wants it. Now this issue will probably not be significant for many, many years to come, but it is still a valid point. No matter how rational our voice may be, no one will listen if we have no might to back it up. We will just be left out of all of the important discussions. On the sidelines while the "big boys" talk.
