OTTAWA – Conservative leader and Leader of the Opposition Stephen Harper today confirmed his party’s commitment to the agreement arrived at by the three opposition leaders on November 13, 2005, contrary to the impression that might have been left by the CTV program “Question Period.”

“I have discussed this week's Parliamentary calendar with both Mr. Layton and Mr. Duceppe,” said Harper. “On Monday, November 21, my party will vote for the NDP motion asking the government to call an election in January. If that motion passes, and if the government then refuses to abide by the will of Parliament, I will move a non-confidence motion on Thursday, November 24 and that motion will come to a vote on Monday, November 28.”

The agreement of November 13 does not apply to other business that may come before the House of Commons.
