I'm only making 3.49 tonnes of gas in a year. whee. I get it, I'm poor. Suppsed to make me feel good. But this thing shouldn't be taken at face value.... as this number gets calculated based on only a few questions, and in the "Reductions to meet your one tonne goal", they ask questions that should have already been considered when calculating your initial tonnage......like how maybe you're already hooked up on low flow c/w aerators... or "use the cold water setting on the washer"... if you say "I'm going to do this" in your reductions, based on the idea that you've (actually) been doing this all along, well anyway, these are the kind of things that go into pulling together your one tonne reduction goal..
I know I was an enginerd in a former life, so I have this monkey ghost on my shoulder who screams at me about annoying things like pre-existing assumptions like actual numbers and.... I know, pain in the ass to have to consider that 2+4=6 instead of 5, or maybe 4. 4 is "like 5". My life of torment. But really dudes, when they have to fool us into thinking we're achieving something, I wonder what they're trying to prove, and what the actual intention is.

I think it's either a case of them feeling like we need to be buttered up on the subject, or an assumption on their part that we're too dumb to work out anything beyond what's in our "Nova Scotia Energy Savings Tips" guide. And yeah, don't even get me started on that thing.

As my final note, I am now leaving grass clippings on the lawn rather than bagging them. This was the final point that got me down to 2.49 tonnes. Fine and dandy. Except for one thing. I have no yard!!!

As Rick Mercer said, "We're Canadian. We're up for a challenge!". Yet, I have to wonder about that.
