I am sure that there are a lot of Canadians out there that think our government and judicial system is soooo mush better than that in the US.
I used to think that it was at least more fair, but even that I am having been seeing chinks in the armour. Then I read this, another case of the Supreme Court NOT taking the morally right road, and too afraid to set a precendant that may cost someone money.

So if you think that Canada is better than the USA Read this column and then tell me that you still feel that way. Also make sure that you check out everything that she says, I did and I didn't see that any of it was exagerated.

I do have a word for Samuel Alito, the new U.S. Supreme Court nominee who believes that the right to bear arms includes machine guns, and that women must notify husbands before seeking abortions, presumably even if the husband has a machine gun. I have a word for Judge Alito. It's Backpfeifengesicht, German for “a face that cries out for a fist in it.

I feel uneasy about this, but I think we should remember one thing here. Samuel Alito was a judge at lower court, not Supreme Court. Consequently, he had statutory obligation to follow Supreme Court decisions. Furthermore, with regard to abortion case, the case was handled in Pennsylvania, and Samuel Alito basically judged following laws in Pennsylvania. Again, he did it (largely?) because of his statutory obligation. I think it's too quick to say that Samuel Alito is a right wing, supports ban on abortion or supports sales of machine guns. Let's hear what he has to say at his hearing, and then we can discuss further ...
