Rockets not a ThreatPosted on Thursday, April 14 @ 10:55:58 CDT by capebretoner
Jeff MacKinnon
It was released today that there are no worries about debris from an American booster hitting oil rigs off the coast of Newfoundland. Last week and earkier this week there were fears that the oil rigs would have to be evacuated prior to a launch in the case that something goes wrong and debris lands near the oil rigs.
"The United States Air Force has said that they are able and prepared to destroy the rocket at any point before the deployment of the boosters," said Williams.
So basically the USAF has stated that they have the ability and will use the ability to destroy the rockets if something doesn't go according to plan.

I figured that it was strange to have "mechanical" problems just in the nick of time of both launches. But the USAF would not admit that it was political pressure that stopped the launches.
25km is a long distance from the platforms, and that was where the booster were going to splash down, but if there is ANY possibility that they might hit well you can't put peoples lives in danger. |
