Press Releases: Despite London bombings, Liberals still don't get it

Liberals still pandering to banned terror groups

OTTAWA – Continuing their pattern of going soft on terror groups, a top federal Liberal operative accepted an invitation to speak at a function organized by former members of the International Sikh Youth Federation, a known terrorist organization listed under Canada’s anti-terrorism legislation. Stockwell Day, Official Opposition Foreign Affairs Critic, stated that this would not have happened without approval at the highest levels.

“Anne McLellan accuses Canadians of being psychologically unprepared for a terrorist attack,” said Day. “It’s now clear that it is the Liberals themselves who are psychologically impaired.”

Day went on to say that he was not surprised at the Liberals continuing to attend events sponsored by terrorist groups since Paul Martin himself has attended fundraising events for certain groups despite being warned by CSIS not to do so.

“No wonder Paul Martin is not taken seriously on an international stage such as the G8 Summit,” remarked Day. “He is simply not treated as a grown-up at these events because of his government’s immature actions.”

John Reynolds, Member of Parliaments for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country, expressed serious concern over the Liberals actions as well.

“I hear from people all the time in the lower mainland who speak with grave reservations to me about the federal Liberals unwillingness to treat terrorism seriously. That a senior Liberal should attend such an event involving a banned terrorist group is completely unacceptable,” Reynolds said.

I think that hell must be getting cold because I agree with the CPC on this issue. However, by saying that the Liberals are "psychologically impaired" sounds very much like they are mud sligging again.

When will the CPC learn that the best way to get Canadians to trust the party is to simple state the facts without calling the others guys bad names.

Simply stating that a top Liberral went to this function would be enough. Also I have yet to see prrof that Martin is NOT taken seriously at events such as the G8. Therefore I doubt that the majority of Canadias have either. This would mean that the statement "He (Paul Martin) is simply not treated as a grown-up at these events" would be seen as a jab at the Liberals which will hurt the CPC's chances of getting the reaction that they are looking for from this release
